The eye complications common in diabetic which, results in blindness in people aged 20 to 74. Eye complications effect both intra retinal and extra retinal structures. So diabetic get effect with eye infections, glaucoma, refractive errors, cataract and corneal diseases frequently.

Control of blood glucose levels, eye care, eye exercises and healthy diet prevent diabetic retinopathy. The ‘diabetes control’ and complications trial, A 10 year study conducted by the US National Institute of Diabetes kidney and digestive diseases which ended in June 1993, established that if blood sugar is in control it prevents or delays diabetic retinopathy among type 1 diabetic patients.
The study didn’t involve type 2 diabetic patients. As per researchers findings they stated that this would also apply to type 2 diabetic patients. Blood sugar should keep in control to avoid damage to eyes.
Twice in a year eye check up must, strongly recommended whenever patient feels even a slight deterioration in vision. Need to take immediate remedial action to prevent eye damage.
