This is due to bile producing liver cells function loss problem or from an obstruction in the bile duct. There are different types of jaundice in which skin and whites of the eyes becomes yellow. The liver located just above the stomach which performs many important functions.
Liver inactivate hormones which is not require, synthesizes amino acids which build tissues, and whenever energy requires it breaks proteins into sugar and fat. Liver produces cholesterol, lacithin, blood albume and bile, vital for the removal of tissue wastes. It stores minerals and vitamins.
Vital digestive fluid is bile which is essential for proper nutrition. Bile is helpful in the process of digestion and also prevent decaying changes in food. Production of bile and its flow is constant.
Causes of Jaundice
Jaundice is indicative of the malfunctioning of liver. It is due to an obstruction of the bile ducts which discharge pigment and bile salts into intestine. Bile mixed with blood and gives yellow color (pigmentation) to skin. Bile ducts obstructions could be due to gall stones, or hepatitis caused by a virus.
The virus spreads and leads to epidermic owing to dirty surroundings, over-crowding, insanitary conditions, contamination of food and water. Jaundice may cause due to pernicious anaemia and some other liver effecting diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, malaria and tuberculosis.
Symptoms of Jaundice
The symptoms of Jaundice are weakness, fever, headache, loss of appetite, severe constipation, undue fatigue, nausea and the eyes, skin, tongue and urine color turns to yellow. The patient may feel pain In the liver region.
Cure for Jaundice
Jaundice can be cure by exercises and diet therapy. If jaundice is due to obstruction or pressure in the bile duct recovery will be slow as these are serious cases. Until the symptoms of the disease subside the patient should take rest.
The patient should be put on a fruit and vegetable juice fast for 8 days. The juice of grapes, lemon, pear, beet, carrot and sugar cane need to take in case of jaundice. During the fast patient should take daily hot water enema to ensure regular bowel elimination, thereby preventing decomposed absorption, poisonous material into the blood stream.
Diet for Jaundice
Discontinue fruit juice after severity of the disease is over and resume simple diet on the following lines.
*Early morning: take Luke warm water by squeezing lime juice in it.
*Break fast: Take one juicy fruit such as papaya, grape, apple, mango and berries. one slice of whole wheat bread with butter or one cup wheat dalia.
*11 o’clock morning: Orange juice
*Lunch: Two small chapatis made of whole wheat flour. A cup of vegetable soup. Steamed leafy vegetables like fenugreek, spinach, carrot and glass of buttermilk.
*Afternoon 3 o’clock: Orange juice or Coconut water.
*Dinner : Two chapatis made of whole wheat with butter or a little ghee. Baked potato and one cup vegetable such as fenugreek, spinach. glass of hot milk with honey before bed.
Avoid Food in Jaundice: All fats must be avoided for two weeks after that less consumption to avoid digestive disturbance.
Natural Home Remedies for Jaundice Treatmnt
- Drinking a lot of water by squeezing lemon juice in it, will protect damaged liver cells.
- Fresh beet juice mixed with tbsp lime juice need to take daily morning before breakfast helps in the treatment of jaundice, vomiting, nausea, hepatitis, diarrhea and dysentery.
- Fresh beet juice with tbsp honey need to take daily before breakfast as it helps to heal gastric ulcer.
- Beet root leaves juice mix with lime juice and give it to patient every morning to get rid of gastric ulcer.
- Green leaves of radish grind and extract juice through clean cloth. Adult patient should take one pound juice daily. It provides immediately relief to patient. It induces healthy appetite and proper evacuation of bowels and it almost decrease the trouble. Most cases get cured within 10 to 12 days.
