Dear Readers, Today the topic is Type 1 Diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes, ‘Diabetes Diet’ and Signs of diabetes. Although people tend to think as diabetes is only one disease, all cases of diabetes is not similar. Sugar accumulates in the blood for different types of reasons resulting in various types of diabetes. This article is not only for diabetes patients it is for all who care for their health and want to prevent diabetes by simple steps.

The following classification is adopted by the American diabetes association in the year 1979.

Type -1, Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus

Type-2, Non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus

More two types of diabetes are there secondary diabetes and gestational diabetes. Malnutrition related diabetes also one kind of special diabetes observed by physicians in India.

Type-1 Insulin-Dependent Diabetes

Insulin-dependent diabetes is most severe form of diabetes when pancreas makes little insulin which is not sufficient for body insulin dependent diabetes develops.

Sugar does not get into the cell without insulin in the blood stream and remain as it is in blood which cause problem.

People with type-1 diabetes depend on insulin injections to regulate sugar metabolism.

Diabetes develops in childhood and youth during the first 20 years of age which is known as juvenile-onset diabetes. If beta cells of the pancreas which make insulin suddenly destroyed then juvenile diabetes develops.

Type-1 diabetes is an auto immune disease. If the immune system is weak then patient gets effect with insulin dependent diabetes.

Immune system should be strong to which protect from bacteria and viruses instead it attack the pancreas, and destroys the beta cells which produce insulin, which result in glucose get produce in the blood and type-1 diabetes develops.

Scientists detected a virus infection is cause of destruction of beta cells. Recent researches indicate this destruction takes about 7 years for this destruction. Nearly 80 percent of beta cells get destroyed then signs of diabetes occur.

So it is necessary to take care prevention is better than cure. No need to avoid sweet or food the only thing which need to follow is some exercises and ‘diabetes diet’ like fruits and vegetables which prevent diabetes, Jambul fruit, Indian gooseberry, grape fruit, fenugreek and black gram. Nature has health treasure in itself isn’t it? 🙂

Type-2 Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes

This diabetes is called maturity onset diabetes or adult onset diabetes. At the age of 40 years or before 40 years it develops. It can develop at any age type-2 diabetes symptoms are mild, conditions remain undetected for very long period.

When the blood test shows the high blood-glucose levels or urine test shows the presence of sugar then type-2 diabetes patient realise it. This type of patient insulin is in normal level but the body cells refuse to accept insulin, and sugar stays in the blood stream which is known as insulin resistant state.

Fatty tissues and Excess weight seem to be one of the reasons for type-2 diabetes. Maximum cases of type-2 diabetes people are overweight.

Type-1 diabetes and Type-2 diabetes has one common factor is elevated blood sugar levels but type-2 is not due to weak immune system. People who have type-1 diabetes must take insulin. Type-2 diabetes can be controlled by taking appropriate diet, weight lose by practicing exercises. If it is not controlled may eventually become insulin dependent.
